Florence continues to grow as a community and as a center
for active retirement, with multiple golf courses, sand dunes
and additional outdoor recreation and nearby lakes and
marina with both ocean and river fishing.
Affordable work force and senior housing is in short supply.
The city of Florence currently has only 144 units of affordable
housing. Local employers, including Three Rivers Casino,
have difficulty attracting workers due to the shortage of
affordable housing. A 2006 housing study identified an
unmet need of 265 affordable housing units. A 2008 housing
study projected a need for 593 units of low income housing
